Five years ago, Marjorie Pollard decided, after working closely with her attorney, to bequeath a portion of her estate to establish a permanent fund at Truman Heartland that would support Hospice Care needs throughout Jackson County. Since her passing in 2001, her charitable legacy has continued as her fund has annually distributed a percentage of the invested funds to support her charitable interests.
This year, Mrs. Pollard's Endowment Fund coupled with the generosity of another Foundation donor enabled Kansas City Hospice to establish an office in Eastern Jackson County. Today 338 families and 40 staff persons and volunteers will benefit from the new office location at 42nd Street in Independence.
As demand grows from an aging population, Kansas City Hospice will be in a better position to respond to the needs of the families they serve and Mrs. Pollard's charitable legacy will continue to provide for other hospice care needs for years and years to come!
You also may want to make it easy and convenient to have a bequest included in your will. The language below shows how a bequest can very easily be included in your will.
